Parking
Irvine is served by public transportation through the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). Metrolink trains arrive every 30 minutes during weekday commuting hours at the Irvine and Tustin stations. Rail2Rail monthly passes are available for commuters.
Within the park, there is a 9-acre lake, multiple playgrounds, and picnic shelters. The main area of the park has paved biking and walking paths as well as equestrian trails. There are also concrete hiking and biking trails in the 123-acre wilderness area that adjoins the park on the other side of Culver Drive.
The city is home to the professional soccer team Orange County SC of the USL Championship Division, which plays its matches at Great Park. Other sporting venues in the city include the Orange County Fairgrounds and the University of California, Irvine.

Trails
The 339 acres of Mason Park feature rows of shade trees, a 9-acre lake that’s popular for model boat sailing, and multiple hiking and biking trails. It’s also home to a 123-acre wilderness area and the Strawberry Farms golf course.
TB rolls out of the parking lot at 0630, just in time to hit the trail before the sun gets too hot. He’s on the University Trail and has a new Magic Shine bike light velcroed to his helmet, set to strobe.
This is a great trail for a semi-loop ride. If you’re in the mood for more climbing, you can backtrack to JOST Junction and take Jeffrey or Turtle Rock to the UT. Those trails are even more scenic. The UT itself is a pretty flat and easy ride.
